2004 CDM Business Members of the Year
President Maureen Schneider selects two!, Feb-10-2005, 10:09 AM
The CDM Chamber of Commerce takes great pride in our membership’s commitment to bring business and community closer. Each year we honor people who have gone above and beyond volunteer ism, and general commitment, to increase the notoriety of our business community. Through tangible actions their effort created tourism, increased shopping local and good will between business, residents and visitors alike. These actions are measurable by continued, new and renewal business community support. At our holiday party in January 2005, we honored two people with the award “Business Person Of The Year 2004”. I am also proud to announce they are our selection to be recognized as "Brookhaven's' Business Person Of the Year" at the Annual Brookhaven Coalition of Chambers dinner event in April.

Ms. Roseann Bufalino, is a Rocky Point small business owner, chamber member for over four years and currently serving her first term as our chambers 2nd Vice President. Roseann named her business, Ad Ventures, and her business is best described by her company slogan “promoting you” !

Almost immediately after taking the oath of office in January 2004, Roseann turned promoting you into promoting our business community. One of her first missions was to redesign the chambers newsletter by expanding the bi-monthly newsletter to include business card advertisements, more feature stories of programs available to the membership and a professional, unified format. Working closely with the Board of Directors, Roseann worked tirelessly to implement 15 minute new member presentations and devised small business forum workshops. These new programs, presentations for new members to be recognized and workshops for all businesses’ to find solutions for daily business situation, have become a super communication tool. Knowing that communication is a business persons best friend she introduced, free advertising seminars.

Using her company to better our business communities understanding of the value of communication she sponsored free advertising seminars. The seminars include beverage and dinner, panels of experts in the field of advertisement, radio, TV, paper print, direct mail, etc., providing networking, and open discussions that cover a wide verity of questions to be answered. Roseann also works hand in hand with the Board alerting members of upcoming events, meetings, sponsorship opportunities donating countless hours to the growth and development of CDM businesses’.

Designer of the CDM Chamber of Commerce plaque, creates letterhead, invitations, posters, brochures, giveaways, decals, etc., at or below cost, even at no cost when possible, her commitment is truly commendable.

Roseann is a member of the Rocky Point Career Advisory Board {LI Works}, Suffolk County Woman’s Business Enterprise Coalition, Port Jefferson Station/Terryville and Riverhead Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Andrew Stigiiano, is the business owner of United Martial Arts Center located in Port Jefferson Station. Andrew is a CDM Business member for over four years and currently serving his first term as our chambers, Sport Director. Supporting our troops in Iraq is a continually developing program that collects non-perishable items at many chamber business locations which are than sorted, packaged and shipped to our troops in harms way in Iraq. Our “Adopt A Solider” program required space to store, package and prepare items for shipment, Andrew, for over a year meets this need by allocating a large proportion of his business location, volunteer time, effort and personal funds in keeping shipment of reminders of home, to our troops in Iraq.

Andrew volunteers services at fitness & festival events, presenting free demonstrations of the arts of his business for all in attendance to enjoy. In 2004 Andrew spearheading the way, working with the CDM Chamber directors, member businesses’, The Town of Brookhaven leaders, & Symbio Company, in a successful fund raising effort for the Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The “Bike A Thon” was held at Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai raising a substantial amount of money for the children’s cancer research hospital. Participation and volunteer work on programs and projects that are truly meaningful in benefiting people are a great symbol of bringing business and community closer.

Sincerely,

Michael Poveromo
